a note from Darlene.......
These amazing animals are my life and I
work my hardest to support this rescue. However, without the help of all of you wonderful people, I wouldn't be able to continue to operate. Words cannot begin to describe how blessed we are to have such wonderful friends. Your loyalty inspires me.
I'd like to personally thank everyone for their support at the first Barn Dance Fundraiser. The Earth Angels and myself are very grateful and appreciate everything you have done! ~ Love, Darlene Nickerson

Amazing Ariel
Ariel is a small Chestnut Arabian that was gifted to me from a dear friend. When I say gifted, I mean she is truly a gift! You see, Ariel is completely blind. However, don't feel sorry for this amazing girl! The first time I met her a couple of years ago, I knew she was special, but since joining us at BFHR, I have realized exactly how special. She is one of the most loving and trusting horses that I have ever known. She has learned every nook and cranny of her stall and can maneuver it like a pro. In her own paddock, just over the fence from the main herd, she walks, trots, rolls and sunbathes to her heart's content. She easily locates her water bucket and hay pile and eagerly listens for her name to be called and returns the greeting with her own very recognizable whinny. We get out regularly for walks together and when I can, I love to ride her cautiously through the trails. She has proven herself to be extremely intelligent and alert on our rides and I am so blessed to have earned her love and trust! Ariel is not up for adoption; she will live out her ler life at BFHR!

This is Austin....
a 20ish
Quarter Horse.
He was rescued by another entity and
due to unfortunate circumstances, the rescue had to
disband and Austin
was left behind but
not forgotten.
Justin was a handsome Bay Apex Quarter Horse who was with us for quite some time. He suffered from several ailments and continually went down hill. If this horse were a man he would have been a southern gentleman with a shock of white hair topped by a straw hat; impeccably dressed with perfect manners. Even through great pain he never acted out and those perfect manners never wavered. We were blessed to have him here with us and he leaves behind a small herd of mares that will miss him dearly.
Kalia was a gift from a dear friend and came to us with her daughter, Ariel. She spent some time living with my sister in law where many grandchildren enjoyed her. When it got to be too much, she came to live at the rescue and I am so thankful that she was able to spend the last year and a half of her life with us. At 37 years of age, Kalia never ceased to amaze. A white Arabian mare I sometimes called cloud under my breath for the way she moved. Stubborn and obstinate she could be but because of her age you loved her more for it.This little spitfire will be truly missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.
We recently lost two of our Earth Angels here at BFHR. It is with a heavy heart that I share the loss of these beautiful souls with you.
The wonderful woman who took him in
tried to do the best she could for
everyone involved. I have learned that
at times you are helping people as much as the animal and sometimes you are just the middle person, the one who gets to place amazing animals with amazing people.
That being a true gift from God.
Austin has a bad leg but can walk, trot
and I witnessed a gallop yesterday but
he would be best as a companion. He is gentle, smart, handsome and such a
beautiful spirit. I am blessed to have him here to teach me what I need to learn
from this angel. He needs a loving home.
Please call if you have any questions. I am better on the phone than the computer. Thank you!
Love and Blessings for a Happy New Year
